BOUTIQUE MANOR LODGING

Seven bespoke suites. One private residence.

I offer myself in full (seven individual suites), shared living spaces and complete privacy in the heart of Sydney. Within my sandstone walls, heritage, art and modern comfort have been gathered into a residence designed for staying slowly, celebrating privately and feeling entirely at home.

L’ÉLISE — LE GRAND SALON

L’Élise Lounge & Dining

The Grand Reception & Dining Room

I am the heart of the house. My library, marble fireplaces and long dining table hold conversations that rarely end on time. Beyond them, my kitchen keeps its cast-iron AGA ready, for quiet breakfasts, generous dinners and whatever my guests feel inspired to make together.

Le Farris Tea Room

I · LE FARRIS — SALON DU THÉ

Le Farris

Private Entrance • Antique Walnut Bed • Tea Room Access

Named for Joseph Farris, my first keeper, this suite has its own discreet entrance and private lounge. Velvet, wainscoting and a Sienna marble hearth lead to an antique walnut bed, while the Tea Room waits nearby for dining, conversation or work conducted without hurry.

II · LA ROSA — LA CHAMBRE D’HÔTES

La Rosa

Bed Crown Canopy • Mahogany Fireplace • Intimate Sanctuary

Rosa Strange lived within my walls in the 1870s, and her room remains my most intimate. A mahogany four-poster bed, carved fireplace, velvet and soft natural light create a warm, enclosed sanctuary, small in scale, rich in feeling, and made for retreating from the world.

III · L’ÉLISABETH — LE CONSERVATOIRE D’ORIENT

L’Élisabeth

Juliet Balconies • Oak Panelling • Conservatory Upgrade

I named this suite for Elizabeth Farris, who once lived within my walls. French-polished oak, an ornate fireplace and Juliet balconies give it quiet grandeur. Beyond the terraces, my leadlight conservatory gathers the morning light. A private place to sit, read and let the day arrive slowly.

IV · L’EDMONDS — LE SALON DU ROCAILLE

L’Edmonds

French Doors • Rockery Garden Terrace • Silk Drapes

Named for bookseller John Edmonds, this suite unfolds behind antique leadlight French doors. A mahogany four-poster bed, silk drapes and hand-loomed carpets lead towards a secluded terrace beneath the sandstone. Here, traces of old Sydney remain close, while the room itself stays composed and still.

Room Canham

V · LE CANHAM — LA CHAMBRE DU BALCON

Le Canham

c.1860s Antique Bed • Wrought-Iron Balcony • Garden Views

Named for J. G. Canham, a musician who lived here in 1842, this is one of my brightest rooms. Three French doors open from an antique bedchamber onto a wrought-iron balcony, where garden views and slow golden afternoons make staying in feel like the better plan.

VI · LE GEORGE — LA CHAMBRE SECRÈTE

Le George

Leadlight Doors • Restored Marble • The Secret Loft

George Baird Shaw, an engraver, once called this part of me home. Restored marble, leadlight doors and hand-loomed carpets shape the suite below; above, original sandstone reveals my Secret Room, a light-filled loft reserved for private dining, thoughtful meetings or a little disappearance.

Room Leopold

VII · LE LÉOPOLD — LE CABINET DES TOITS

Le Léopold

Harbour Bridge Views • Rooftop Terrace • Skylit Lounge

At the top of the house, I keep my widest view. Le Léopold pairs a skylit lounge and Birds Eye Maple furnishings with a private rooftop terrace overlooking the Harbour Bridge. Secluded, bright and quietly contemporary, it is where the city feels close but never intrusive.

THREE THOUGHTS ON REST

I

Luxury is not what surrounds you. It is what no longer asks for your attention.

II

Rest begins when a room stops asking to be noticed.

III

The best rooms do not impress you. They let you exhale.
